ABOUT
Nathan Biron (he/him) is an undergraduate lighting designer based in Chicago, Illinois. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Design and Technology with a concentration in lighting at Columbia College Chicago. Nathan’s experience spans across design, programming, and electrics, with work featured in a wide range of productions including musicals, plays, live music performances, and dance showcases.
For me, theatre is an opportunity to enhance; to elevate emotion, change, vulnerability, and so, so much more. Whether through color, texture, temperature, or angle of light, I am constantly exploring ways to ensure my designs not only supports the story on stage, but also tells a story of its own.
Collaboration is at the core of my process. I believe no theatrical work can be created from a sole effort— it's a collective vision that thrives on creativity and collaboration. Most of my work stems from my deep commitment to exploration. Theatre allows us to reflect on who we are and imagine who we might become, and I believe that an audience’s connection to a show comes from a willingness to take creative risks.
My designs are inspired by the world around me; the beauty in the mundane and the everyday experience of life. With each light I turn on and every design I curate, I strive to grow, not only as an artist but also as a human being.
